Class 5
Tuesday, March 24th
In this class participants focused on Galatians 5, where Hillary led participants through Paul's discussion of the "fruit of the Spirit" versus the "works of the flesh." The group examined key verses including the lists of both positive and negative behaviors, with participants sharing different translations and perspectives on terms like "flesh" versus "sinful nature." Hillary guided the discussion through each of the nine fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control - connecting them to specific passages from Luke, John, Mark, and other gospels to illustrate how Jesus demonstrated these qualities. The class also addressed questions about atonement theology and the meaning of Jesus's crucifixion, with Hillary explaining that Paul's focus was on freedom and spiritual maturity rather than ritual sacrifice. The session concluded with plans for one final pre-recorded episode to cover the remaining content due to Holy Week commitments.
