ANGELA YARBER

My name is Rev. Dr. Angela Yarber and I'm the Author, Artist, and Executive Director of the Tehom Center, a non-profit empowering marginalized women by teaching about revolutionary women through art, writing, retreats, and academic courses.

Each week in May, I'll offer creative prompts for you to nurture your spirit with sketching, color, writing, and collage. One element of my work is guiding women through my Intentional Creative Process of painting holy women icons, canonizing them into the subversive sisterhood of saints. I'm excited for you to participate in glimpses of this process and I can't wait to see what you create!

If you're interested, you can learn more about my non-profit at www.tehomcenter.org

I have a Ph.D. in Art and Religion and I've been a professor in divinity schools and/or Departments of Women's, Gender, and Sexuality Studies for about 15 years. I've authored 7 books and 4 have been awarded Top LGBTQ Religion Books. Over the past decade, I've painted over 100 folk-feminist icons that are sold in homes, galleries, churches, and schools all over the world. My work has been featured on the television show Tiny House Nation, NPR's Progressive Spirit, and at Maya Angelou's memorial celebration. I'm a super queer clergywoman and I live with my wife and two young children on Hawai'i Island in an off-grid tiny house and retreat center. I can't wait to get to know you this month!
