COURSE DESCRIPTION
Join us for "Birds of the Air 2.0," a transformative workshop designed to guide participants through the stages of discernment, helping each individual to uncover and embrace their unique calling in these challenging times. Back by popular demand!
This course offers a comprehensive exploration of spiritual practices, self-reflection, and community engagement, fostering both inner transformation and outer action. Over the course of several sessions, participants will engage in profound discussions and activities, including meditation, contemplation, and spiritual gift inventories, all aimed at deepening their understanding of themselves and their purpose.
Key sessions include:
- The Work Before the Work: Understanding the foundational practices that prepare us for fulfillment of our callings.
- Intention & Impasse: Navigating the challenges and limits that may hinder our spiritual and personal growth.
- The Circle & The Vision: Identifying supportive communities and envisioning the world we wish to contribute to.
- The Plan and the Purpose/Action: Developing actionable blueprints for sharing our gifts and fulfilling our divine purpose.
Throughout this journey, we will explore discernment through tools such as Ignatian spirituality and engage in activities that promote resilience, healing, and reconciliation.
Together, we will seek clarity on what God may be calling us to do, empowering each participant to step forward with confidence and purpose.
Join us in this enriching experience as we collectively strive to become the hands, feet, and hearts of God in our communities and the world.

COURSE INSTRUCTOR
The Rev. Dr. Hillary Raining

Hillary currently serves as the Rector of St. Columba's Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C. She’s an accomplished scholar and teacher, and is passionate about helping people deepen their connection to God through traditional and innovative means. She is the founder of The Hive, an online community focused on spirituality and wellness and holds a Master of Divinity from Yale University and the Yale Institute of Sacred Music, and a Doctor of Ministry from Drew University. Her academic work explores topics including leadership, reconciliation, preaching, trauma, and Indigenous theology—including meaningful research with her own tribe, the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Native Americans, on ritual and intersectionality. As a pastor, Hillary is known for her warmth, deep listening, and creative spirit. She is also a spiritual director, yoga and meditation instructor, forest therapist, and beekeeper, and brings a holistic approach to ministry grounded in love, joy, and justice.
