Class 3

Tuesday, March 10th

In this class we had a detailed exploration of Galatians Chapter 3, where Paul argues for justification by faith rather than works of the law. Our discussion covered Paul's apocalyptic vision and his role as Apostle to the Gentiles, including his transformation from a zealous, Jewish leader to a proponent of Christianity for all people. We examined how Paul uses Abraham's Covenant as a foundation for his argument that faith, not ethnicity or adherence to the law, determines one's relationship with God. We also discussed the historical and theological significance of Paul's teachings, including how they influenced Martin Luther's doctrine of justification by faith alone and Martin Luther King Jr.'s Civil Rights Movement. The session concluded with an analysis of how Paul's message challenges the human tendency to seek justification through works and instead emphasizes the liberating grace of God's Covenant with humanity.
